Where the gains outweighed the losses.

2020 was a year of losses for everyone. For me, it was a year of lost memories and experiences.

I wasn’t able to attend my prom or have a normal graduation. I wasn’t able to partake in my summer program at a Google office. I wasn’t able to spend my first year of college at campus or in my dorm.

Yet, now that the year is finally over, I don’t want to look back at it with regret or with wonder of what could have been. …

To gain progress, you need a plan.

Motivation is fleeting. You cannot depend upon it because you never know when it will appear. If you continue to wait each day until you feel motivated to finally do work, you will never be able to make any progress.

Instead, in order to maximize your productivity and become a step closer to your goals, you should develop a routine. A routine is important because it allows one to mentally map out what they want to accomplish in a day and even within which time frame.

An important point stuck out to me while reading an article written by Anthony…

There’s more to life than just work.

My teacher asked us to type into the chat a word to describe how we were feeling. Almost all of the 26 responses were along the lines of stressed, overwhelmed, or over-worked. “You should never try to be better than someone else, you should always be learning from others. But you should never cease trying to be the best you could be because that’s under your control and the other isn’t.” — John Wooden

How I found my definition changing.

Success looks different for everyone.

For some, it can be a promotion in their job. For others, it can be watching their children graduate from college. For me, I always envisioned that success meant being able to live comfortably and having the freedom and the financial stability to not worry about putting food on the table. It means being able to travel the world and not being cooped up in a cubicle for the rest of your life.

Yet, as I grew older, I found my definition of success changing. I started believing that success looked like a big house…

Characteristics I found that truly define being ‘Googley.’

What is it that makes Google Google?

Is it their arrangement of our most basic colors? Or the tool that is the sole bearer of all our questions? (2020’s most searched question on Google: “what is my ip?”) Perhaps it is their name that is often typed to see if the Internet is working correctly.

Whatever it is, we can all agree that Google is one of the most well-known and largest tech companies in the world. Therefore, how special did you have to be to be able to work there? …
